PARIS -- Alcatel (Paris: CGEP.PA and NYSE: ALA) announced today that it has
enhanced its support of the Open Mobile Alliance (OMA), a global industry association comprised
of more than 350 companies committed to driving open standards for interoperable services, from
full member to that of sponsor member, thus becoming a member of OMA’s Board of Directors.
On this occasion, Alcatel also announced that Gilbert Buty, standardization manager at Alcatel, has
been elected as the chairman of OMA’s Inter-Operability (IOP) Working Group.
This further reinforces Alcatel’s full support of the standardization work being carried out in the
framework of the OMA, and confirms Alcatel’s commitment to interoperability as the cornerstone to
developing true user-centric mobile solutions.
“Seamless integration of mobile services, as well as proven interoperability in today's multi-provider
communications environment, are vital customer considerations driving the development of Alcatel's
strategy,” said Marc Rouanne, chief operating officer of Alcatel's mobile activities. “As a leading
provider of user-centric mobile communications solutions, Alcatel sees its long-term commitment to
the OMA as a vital pillar of its strategy to offer reliable end-to-end mobile applications, satisfying
the demands of the mobile mass market.”
