no ratings LONDON -- 3, the UK’s first video mobile network, today announced that rugby fans will be able to follow the 6 Nations rugby tournament on their video mobiles. With 3’s video news, live scores, SMS text alerts, tables and fixtures delivered straight to your video mobile, you won’t miss any of the 6 Nations rugby action. 3’s 6 Nations service will be available throughout the tournament, starting on the first match-day, this Saturday February 14 and running until March 27. A new Rugby Union home- page will give fans access to audio updates, half and full-time alerts and an ITN video news bulletin with live scores and updates. In addition to the new rugby service, fans can already access a wide range of sports content and news on 3 including exclusive Barclaycard Premiership video highlights, UEFA Champions League video highlights and comprehensive video, audio and text sports news, reinforcing 3 as the home of mobile sport. Gareth Jones, COO, 3 UK, commented: “3 offers the leading video mobile services in the UK and our 6 Nations service extends that unique quality to international rugby’s premier annual competition. We believe 3’s new rugby service will appeal to any fan wanting to keep up-to-date with the on-pitch action. Our football service is one of our most popular and adding the 6 Nations gives 3’s customers even more choice in what’s already the most comprehensive sports service available on a mobile phone.” Mr Jones added: “As well as having 99% population coverage for normal voice and SMS, 3’s video mobile services are available in the major towns and cities across the UK, so whether you live in Cardiff or Carlisle, Lisburn or Livingston, you will be able to watch 3’s video news of the 6 Nations.” Graeme Oxby, Marketing Director, 3 UK, said: “Whether you support England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales or even France or Italy, this year’s competition promises to be one of the most exciting for years. As World Cup holders, England have their honour to defend and as a 3 customer, you can follow the ensuing action on your 3 video mobile.” In a separate release to celebrate the launch off 3’s 6 Nations rugby service on Valentine’s day, 3 will announce that Jonny Wilkinson was voted top sporting heartthrob by Britain’s most intelligent women. 3 surveyed British female Mensa members on their ideal love match for Valentine’s Day from a list of British sports stars and Jonny was way ahead of the pack with 38% of the vote.
