BOCA RATON, Fla. -- Genesis Technology Group, Inc. (OTCBB:GTEC) announced today the signing of two contracts with a U.S.-based short message service company for marketing its text messaging applications in China. Genesis will forge strategic alliances for this firm in China, with the cooperation of the world's two largest telecommunications groups. Genesis will receive a per-message fee for each completed communication.
Gary L. Wolfson, Genesis CEO, commented: "Latest figures released by China's Ministry of Information Industry (MII) show China has the world's largest mobile phone ownership with 206 million subscribers -- or 16 in every 100 people owning mobile phones. In 2002, China's mobile phone users sent over 90 billion text messages, from 18.9 billion in 2001 and one billion in 2000. Remarkably, one out of every three messages transmitted in the world is in Chinese.
"For over four months, we have been negotiating with this U.S. company to introduce its technology to the Chinese markets. This firm is already operating successfully in over 200 countries worldwide. For its China initiative, our time-tested network has established critical relationships with China Telecom and China Mobile Communications Group; these are the largest communications companies in the world. It is our goal that our new partner can provide services to a portion of the billions of messages being transmitted annually in China," Mr. Wolfson concluded.
