STOCKHOLM and EMERYVILLE, Calif. -- MobiTV, Inc. a leading provider of managed TV and video content over mobile and broadband networks, today announced the appointment of Jan Olin to the role of Managing Director for Europe. Olin joins MobiTV to drive the company’s planned expansion into the European market. Olin has held senior executive positions in the mobile and communications industries since 1996 and intends to build on MobiTV’s success to date in North America, applying his product and business development expertise to define and execute the company’s market expansion strategy.
Before joining MobiTV, Olin was Director of Business Development at Yahoo! Europe where he was responsible for distribution of Yahoo! mobile services, via major operators and handset manufacturers in the region. He played a key role in securing the first mobile advertising distribution deal for Yahoo! with Vodafone Live UK, and winning T-Mobile’s mobile search business across Europe. Prior to this, Olin spent ten years at Ericsson Group, where he was responsible for the strategic business development of Ericsson’s mobile TV solution. During his tenure at Ericsson, Olin also managed sales activity with Ericsson customers including Vodafone, Verizon, and several other major operators.
Olin will report to Anders Norström, COO of MobiTV who said; “Jan’s wide-ranging experience in mobile and communications has exposed him to the way operators think and plan strategic deals. By combining this experience with his leadership skills, Jan can build both strong commercial relationships in a new market and develop a team that will deliver results.”
