Huawei Touts 3G Deals

SHENZHEN, China -- Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. ("Huawei"), a leader in providing next generation telecommunications network solutions for operators around the world, today announced that it won 14 HSPA/WCDMA contracts in Q1 2008, and its total number of HSPA/WCDMA contracts has exceeded 100 to date.

In Q1 2008, Huawei won a number of large HSPA/WCDMA deals with carriers in Europe, Latin America and Asia Pacific and its GSM unit shipments increased by 20%.

Through the concept of "Green Modernization" Huawei has helped carriers in Europe and Asia Pacific realize total cost of ownership (TCO) savings by reducing site power consumption by 60%, site space by 40%-60%,and increasing the time-to-market by 30%.

"We are delighted to celebrate winning more than 100 HSPA/WCDMA contracts," stated Mr. Hou Jinlong, the vice president of Huawei's Wireless Product Line. "This is affirmation that operators around the world are turning to us for mobile network solutions, and we will continue to focus on their needs to build next generation wireless networks under the theme “Convergence, Broadband, Green, Evolution."
