OSLO, Norway -- Colibria, the leading provider of new generation Mobile Instant Messaging (MIM) solutions, has announced a deal with Malaysia’s DiGi. Colibria will provide mobile IM services for over six million subscribers in a staged roll out.
Due to launch in Autumn 2007, the MIM service will allow DiGi users to experience immediate community-based chat with their friends and colleagues. Colibria’s award-winning Elevate MIM solution will be fully interoperable with SMS as well as providing innovative mobile and PC-based Instant Messaging client applications. Supporting SMS continuity with Colibria’s SMS Interworking module, as advocated by the GSMA’s Personal IM Initiative, is a vital part of ensuring a seamless service for users. It will enable DiGi subscribers signed up to the MIM service to send IMs to those who do not yet use it, delivering messages as an SMS.
The pioneering solution being implemented by Colibria will also have the capability to interconnect with other operators’ MIM services in Malaysia, ensuring maximum interoperability of services.
Albern Murty, DiGi's Head of Product Management commented, "DiGi is driven to continuously enrich our customers’ mobile lifestyle by offering services that are relevant and easy to use, and this is exactly what MIM is. We are satisfied with our partnership with Colibria in making this a reality."
