Moto Launches MotocastJune 8, 2007 | Post a comment
no ratings BASINGSTOKE, U.K. -- Motorola (NYSE:MOT) today announced MOTOCAST, a unique mobile application for the ‘home screen’ of its mobile devices giving customers easy access to information, content and services of interest to them. MOTOCAST will be a default, out-of-the-box experience giving Motorola customers “zero-click” access to quality content. The MOTOCAST technology represents another innovation for Motorola and the mobile industry, delivering valuable information and content, from a number of providers including Reuters, direct to the home screen of customer phones. The MOTOCAST content is updated on a continuous basis bringing up to date news and information straight to the home screen. This continuous stream of content allows customers to just pick up their phones and view the information in an instant, no buttons pressed, WAP sites visited or menus involved. “MOTOCAST is a great example of how we at Motorola look to combine cutting edge styling and product design with unrivalled experience.” said Stephen Nolan, regional lead for Northern Europe, Motorola. “With MOTOCAST, customers will be able to realise the full potential of their devices with no complexity; there is nothing to install, no feature hidden away, no WAP browser to find or numerous pages to click through - the service operates out of the box. With the great content provided by Reuters, MOTOCAST gives every Motorola customer a constantly updating news source in their pocket.” At launch there will be two content channels available; a Reuters news service that will provide MOTOCAST users with the top national, world, entertainment, fashion and sports stories throughout the day. Customers will be able to scroll through the news headlines and, should they wish, easily click through and view *the complete article from Reuters to read it in full. The second will be a Motorola channel which will enable customers to keep up to date with Motorola news and promotions, receive handy tips on using the device as well as one click access to download wallpapers, ringtones, applications and games. Motorola plans to add further channels to the service throughout the year. "We are delighted to be a key launch partner for Motorola's MOTOCAST service", said Tim Faircliff, Reuters General Manager for consumer media, EMEA. "MOTOCAST opens up another opportunity for Reuters to deliver engaging quality content directly to mobile users, and extends Reuters reach across platform and device by driving audiences to Reuters mobile properties. Motorola have clearly continued to innovate, allowing content owners alternative and exciting means of delivering valuable content." Motorola Inc. (NYSE: MOT)
