BARCELONA -- Comsys Communication and Signal Processing and CEVA, Inc. today announced that Comsys has licensed the CEVA-X1641™ Quad-MAC DSP Core for its latest generation of WiMAX baseband processors. Comsys will utilize the CEVA DSP core for the computation-intensive baseband processing functions within their converged and multimode cellular/mobile WiMAX solutions.
As a leading customer for the CEVA-X1641 DSP, Comsys’ background in cellular technology proved essential during the development stage, enabling CEVA to architect the DSP core specifically to meet the demanding performance requirements of converged cellular/mobile WiMAX and 4G baseband processing.
Features include 4 simultaneous multipliers, a 128-bit data memory bandwidth and dedicated mechanisms such as dynamic and selective unit shutdowns and clock gating. As a result the powerful DSP core is equipped to handle data rates up 100Mb/s with very low power consumption, thus giving longer battery life in mobile handsets.
