12:05 PM -- Freshly funded Clearwire LLC (Nasdaq: CLWR ) is looking to Mexico for some new WiMax action.
The operator has teamed up with MVS Comunicaciones SA and Intel Capital to pump $700 million into deploying WiMax in 23 Mexican cities, starting in the second half of 2010. None of the companies are disclosing how the investment will be split up.
Bloomberg is reporting that MVS expects to win government approval for the additional spectrum needed for the network by the end of the year.
Outside of its major U.S. network, Clearwire is also planning to deploy in Spain in 2010. (See Clearwire Expands in Spain .)
