Cellphone Tattoo!!!

5:55 PM -- From our Body Horrors Dept., we bring you the digital tattoo interface. Yep, if you thought mobile couldn't get any more personal, well, you were dead wrong because here's a flexible silicon device that can be implanted under the skin.

"This Bluetooth device is permanently implanted beneath the skin," says the project Website. "It is flat, flexible, silicon, and silicone. Tightly rolled when it's inserted through a small incision, and then unfurled beneath the skin, it lies benignly between skin and muscle."

How would it work? The Website has this to say:

Her cell phone is ringing, but the display is turned off. She lightly pushes a small dot on the skin on her left forearm to suddenly reveal a two by four inch tattoo with the image of the cell phone's digital display, directly in the skin of her arm. She answers the call by pushing a tattooed button on her arm. While she's talking, the tattoo comes to life as a digital video of the caller. When she finishes, the tattoo disappears.

It can be used as a cellphone, videophone, or display, the creator, Jim Mielke, suggests. So now you know that the voices in your arm are actually coming from under the skin of your forearm.

But seriously folks, sci-fi as it may seem, this is only one of several wireless implant projects Unstrung has heard about -- from "tooth phones" to GPS trackers in the digestive tracts of cows. [Ed note: You wish we were making this up!] (See Rinse, Spit, and Call and Cow-Fi, Anyone?)

Th tattoo phone is powered by your blood cells. Check it out:

Which means it could also monitor your blood. Hey an always-on wirelessly-connected blood monitor! Not seeing any potential privacy issues with that at all!
